The importance of Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) has long been recognized by the intelligence community. By definition, OSINT is information gathered from publicly available free or subscription-based sources. Gathering of this kind information for further analysis has become par for the course in any organization, be it security agencies, police, government, financial organizations, marketing departments or any other organization.

OSINT sources include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Media - newspapers, magazines, radio, television and computer-based information.
  • Public data - government reports, official data such as budgets and demographics, hearings, legislative debates, press conferences, speeches, marine and aeronautical safety warnings, environmental impact statements, contract awards.
  • Observation and reporting - Amateur airplane spotters, radio monitors and satellite observers among many others have provided significant information not otherwise available.
  • Professional and academic - conferences, symposia, professional associations, academic papers, and subject matter experts.

It is estimated that OSINT comprises 80 to 95 percents of all information gathered in mainstream intelligence agencies. In today's reality of open source information explosion, it is increasingly challenging to "separate the wheat from the chaff". Bits and pieces of information with varying reliability scattered across the World Wide Web must be gathered in a timely manner and comprised into an integrated intelligence picture.

MindCite solution enables open source intelligence gathering capability that responds to the needs of any of the listed organizations. Gathering process of the solution is based on the MindCite developed platform, custom-tailoring OSINT to meet individual needs of any customer.

How Does It Work?

Citer end-to-end Platform enables the execution of the OSINT solution. The domain of the interest is defined in the system in relation to two aspects: the keywords and the relevant sources. The keywords are defined within the module called Ontology. Each keyword is assigned with the relative importance grade. For better understanding of the domain and its key figures, a visual map of relations within the market can be created by the professional. Then scheduling of information gathering from the pre-defined sources is set to feed the system with focused data for further retrieval and analysis.

Who Does It Fit To?

Any intelligence agency or a business has to be aware of the public available information on his domain of interest.

What Are The Benefits?

  • Proven ROI in automation of the domain coverage
  • Ongoing updates on urgent topics
  • Risk control
